Back by popular demand, this full-day program provides North Carolina trial lawyers with practical, courtroom-ready tools they can use immediately. From District and Superior Court lifelines to key insights on criminal defense practice, immigration consequences, and preserving issues for appeal, sessions focus on real-world application.
The program also features a lunchtime plenary with Wall Street Journal reporter and author Valerie Bauerlein, who will discuss her book The Devil at His Elbow and the implications of the Alex Murdaugh case.

- Cancellations received one week prior to the seminar date are refunded less a $40 service charge. Refunds cannot be given after this date.
- Substitutions are welcomed and may be made until the date of the seminar. For registrants who wish to transfer their registration to another NCAJ seminar, transfer requests received by noon the third working day prior to the seminar are subject to a $50 transfer fee. Transfer requests received after this time are subject to a $110 transfer fee ( to include any price difference).
- All transfer and cancellation requests must be in writing by sending email to cle@ncaj.com.
- If you wish to transfer to the virtual option, you will be required to pay a $40 service charge before transfer is made. Registrations may be transferred once and only to (one day) seminars scheduled through June 30, 2026.
